Cabin Crew English · Foreign Airlines

Assessment Day

💡 Why this matters   Foreign airlines (Emirates, Qatar, Cathay...) don't run a simple interview — they run a full Assessment Day. Here's how to shine at every stage.

Overview

A typical Assessment Day

1

Registration & CV Drop

Hand in your CV and photo with a short, warm hello.

2

Airline Presentation

They present the role and life as cabin crew.

3

Group Exercises

Team tasks and discussions — they assess teamwork & communication.

4

Role-Play

Customer-service scenarios, often in pairs.

5

Reach Test & Checks

Reach 212cm, grooming, height/weight.

6

Final Interview

1:1 competency (STAR) questions.

💡
All day matters   You can be cut after any stage. Stay warm and professional the whole day — assessors watch you even during breaks.

Stage 1

CV Drop & First Impression

Hello, I'm Jimin. It's a pleasure to meet you.
Here's my CV. Thank you so much.
Thank you for the opportunity.
💡
Silent test   This is a quiet assessment of your smile, grooming, and confidence. Make eye contact and stand tall.

Stage 2 · Key stage

Group Discussion

Assessors watch how you interact — not who is right. Contribute, include others, and stay positive.

Give your opinion
In my opinion, safety should always come first.
I think we could start by...
Invite others
What do you think?
Shall we hear from everyone?
Agree & build
That's a great point. I'd add that clear communication helps too.
Disagree politely
I see it a little differently — maybe we could...
Summarize (leadership)
So, to sum up, we all agree that...
💡
Don't dominate   Warmth and inclusion win. Bring in quieter people — that shows real teamwork.

Stage 3

Role-Play — Customer Service

You play cabin crew and handle a scenario. Example: a passenger's special meal is missing.

PASSENGER
Excuse me, I ordered a vegetarian meal but it's not here.
CABIN CREW
I'm so sorry about that. Let me check what we have on board... I can offer you a fruit plate and a fresh salad. Would that be okay for now?
PASSENGER
I suppose so.
CABIN CREW
Thank you for understanding. I'll make a note so it doesn't happen again. Is there anything else I can get you?
💡
Empathize → solve → follow up   Stay warm even when the "passenger" is difficult. That's exactly what they're testing.

Stage 4

Final Interview (1:1)

Competency questions using STAR. Prepare real, personal examples.
